Dubai For forty is a program and an objective that the Alumni Committee
for Dubai and the Northern Emirates has adopted for its current term
in office. The program aims at educating 10 students at AUB next year.
The whole affair started during an informal gathering of a small group
of people who were evaluating the idea of joining the alumni committee.
That small group believed that the alumni community could and should
extend more support to that University and the student body than it
has done until then. That group also believed that both the community
as well as the committee needed to undergo some awakening to remind
them of the deep links that exist between who and what we are today
and what the University’s undeniable mark on that has been,
still and will always be.
We have all been fortunate enough to attend
one of the greatest universities of our region. It gave us a certain
personality and a certain character that opened for us the widest
possible horizons in our professional lives.
Official bodies, international companies, private concerns and businesses
as well as many others all wanted to recruit young men and women
graduating from AUB. This eagerness is not a simplistic coincidence
as much as a strong belief backed by decades of experience in the
consistent quality of those graduates. Whilst the individuals’
personal efforts cannot be ignored, the formation of the mind and
the preparation and formation that the University gives to each
individual is what ultimately enabled this latter in the future.
It is about giving forty needy students a chance to study at AUB
and a chance to face life with proper and adequate education.
